Transparence Theatre (#TPT) is the worlds first inclusive professional ensemble working in the fields of theatre, opera and dance focussing on ensembles supporting an all professional transgender cast.

In January 2019 Katharina Fegebank, 2nd Major and Senator of Hamburg, became patron to our ensemble. 

​

Trans* artists face several difficulties in our society. The reality is that professionally trained trans* performers experience numerous problems getting a regular job in our entertainment system today. Furthermore some find themselves compared to and competing with other trans artists, even if they work in totally different fields. In addition some feel more likely to be judged on their look or even on their gender than on their actual artistic skills.

 

Let's move on! Our aim is to create gender impartial art, by giving professionally trained trans* performers and creatives a platform to show their personal skills and talents. We give equal opportunities to our artists.

 

Currently we only work with trans*-identified performers on stage, but cisgender allies and LGBTQ+ people are very welcome to join the team.

 

We see ourselves as a company within a network of LGBTQ+, non-binary, and cisgender artists, working with trans and non-binary people on stage to create artistically ambitious theatre, free of gender bias.

 

 

TRANSPARENCE THEATRE (#TPT)

was born in Hamburg in 2016, when a group of theatre people recognised that professional transgender performers have been experiencing numerous problems within the entertainment industry.

 

They decided to present a unique opportunity to other trans*, non-binary and LGBTQ+ artists and give them a platform to present their skills, whilst not being judged on anything else than their artistic skills.

 

We are aware of the fact that we are very upfront and that we attract public attention with what we do. Through creating theatre, we want to raise awareness, spark conversations, but most importantly be ourselves, regardless to what others might have to say.
