Malena Tuvung

JUDGING PANEL

Malena Tuvung was an outstanding ice skating talent in her teenage years. Yet the stage was more intriguing to her and she attended the Musical Theatre course at the prestigious Göteborgs Balettakademien.

Directly after her exam she got an engagement at Skaraborgs Länsteater before she moved to Gran Canaria where she lived and worked as singer soloist for three years.

As homesickness kicked in too hard she moved back north to play Miss Bell in the Swedish version of the musical Fame. After touring the country she got an offer to become a soloist singer at Wallmans in Copenhagen which gave her the chance to perform songs of some of the greatest singers our time. Parts of the shows where even customized to fit her unique voice.

She then took the opportunity and became an ensemble member of the great Göteborgsopera where she has been involved in many musicals such as My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Romeo & Julia, West Side Story, Crazy For You and Mozarts opera The Magic Flute. Since then Göteborgsopera became a new artistic home for Malena.

2009 she starred as Grizabella in Cats at Cirkus in Stockholm. She performed on national television for the well known Swedish traditional midsummer program Allsång på Skansen becoming famous for her interpretation of the song "Memory".

In 2019 Malena received the Teatersällskapsordens (TSO) grant.

Since she is touring as soloist with the biggest Swedish music show "From Broadway To Duvemåla" and with her own show "Evergreen – A Tribute to Barbra Streisand". In 2021 she will appear in Jesus Christ Superstar at Swedens biggest open air stage Dalhalla.
